Here at One Style at a Time it's no secret that we hold a very elevated admiration for Mr. Oscar de la Renta. Last year I had the honor during New York's FNO of meeting and greeting this latin treasure and legend of Fashion.
On July 22nd, Oscar will be celebrating his 80th Birthday. It's hard to believe that this icon has been creating Fashion masterpieces for 50 years. His early beginnings were in Paris and Spain as a student of Art, then his talent for illustration landed him a career with the Spanish house of Balenciaga. Then in 1963 he came to New York where his first job was with Elizabeth Arden.
Today, his talent is recognized worldwide and is respected by some of the industries giants like Diane Von Furstenberg, Valentino, Carolina Herrera and Anna Wintour among many others. His elegant designs have been worn by very famous women including Jacqueline Kennedy - Onassis, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Reagan, Raquel Welch, Barbara Walters, Sarah Jessica Parker, Beyonce, Penelope Cruz and the list goes on and on.
Oscar de la Renta has brought his worldly influences to his designs. He empowers women through his clothes and is always excited to make women feel FEMININE.
Today our blog post is dedicated to a man that is deserving of much praise for making history and for inspiring so many. Thank you for bringing elegance, charm and vibrancy to the runway season after season.
Feliz Cumpleaños Oscar de la Renta!
