From London to Milan: Fashion Week Continues

Once New York Fashion Week wrapped up, the travels began and the crowds moved on to London Fashion Week and shortly after Milan. It has been quite a busy time in the Fashion world as the Fall Collections for 2013 continue to make the news and the hitting the runways. A few similarities from NYFW were Metallics, Fur, exotic skins and prints. London brings the edge and Milan always has plenty of luxe, feminine appeal. Here is a brief roundup of what has been seen in past weeks. There were many, many other shows that were spectacular, but here is a just a few bullet points of what was seen on the runway.

NYFW: Red Hot for Autumn/Winter 2013

New York Fashion Week shows may seemed like a dark room with so much black and muted tones. However, don’t despair plenty of color was seen on the runway as well. One color that made a recurring splash in several shows was Red. From opulent gowns with embroideries, silk, taffeta, sheer, lace and velvet there were stunning gowns and ready to wear to keep any fashionista happy.

If you are a fan of this vivacious color next fall you will find it just about everywhere. So I leave you with just a few of the many lovely red gowns that marched down the runway this past week. Of course it comes just in time to wish each of you Happy Valentine’s Day from One Style at a Time!

NYFW: Go “Olive” Green for Fall 2013

New York Fashion week continues and although tomorrow is the last day we have so much ground to cover. The question I keep hearing is what’s next? So what colors are trending? Here is one color that seemed to be a favorite with many designers…Olive Green.

Designers decided to “go green” so to speak, and brought to their collections a touch of this earthy tone. Prabal Gurung who showed early in the week presented a strong, military inspired collection on the runway. It’s a great option if you don’t want to venture out to much into more vivid colors. Perhaps you like to stay with basic black, which as we discussed in our previous post “A Matter of Black” is a keeper for next fall. Well a great alternative to color would be this olive green and if it’s mixed with brown, burgundy, camel and/or a touch of gold then you have hit the right note for autumn. Here are a few examples of what was shown at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Just keep it in mind and note this under your “Fall 2013″Fashion file.

NYFW: A Matter of BLACK, Fall 2013 Runway Report

New York Fashion Week has officially hit the midway mark. For weeks now designers have been leaking sneak peaks to their collections by posting snippets of their inspiration on their Facebook pages, Instagram and Twitter accounts. Finally, the designs have made their appearance on the runway and we can assess what the highlights of the shows have been so far.

If there is one color that has been making a strong presence is Black! Not that black is a new trend, but it certainly showed up on many occasions. Some of the biggest names like Alexander Wang, Altuzarra and Donna Karan all revisited this classic hue. The common thread here is that black was introduced in a variety of textures using or combining leather, furs and knits.

The runway may have had a fade to black moment but it was re-invented in extraordinary designs that were wearable, modern with an edge and quite luxe. If you are a fan of wearing black then next fall season is going to be right down your alley. Now don’t think that the shows were missing the allure of color…not at all. We will bring you more recaps as the week progresses and more shows are brought to life. Take a glance at a few collections that brought an array of looks in classic black. Any favorites?
