2016 CRITICS’ CHOICE AWARDS BEST DRESSED

Awards season continues on and as some of Hollywood’s top celebrities continue celebrating their big wins, we continue taking a closer look at who was winning in the fashion department. This past Sunday it was the Critics’ Choice Awards turn to honor the best in film and television and a chance for the fashion critics to see which of these actresses style won even bigger.
Overall, the fashion was pretty safe but very sexy indeed. If you thought you had seen it all with plunging necklines at the Golden Globes, well that trend continued last night. It also got very leggy on the ‘blue carpet’ as well. The ladies were not shy in showing off their toned legs in high slits. Wondering what colors were the top trend? Of course, black was a top trend but the dusty, pale blue was by far seen as one of the most noticeable trends of the night worn by Jennifer Aniston, January Jones and our favorite was worn by the actress Saoirse Ronan. We leave you with some of our favorites of the night. So fashionistas, tell us which were your best dressed at the Critics’ Choice Awards?

Krysten Ritter in Zuhair Murad
Saoirse Ronan in Antonio Berardi

2016 GOLDEN GLOBES: BEST DRESSED

Glitz, glamour and a red carpet full of stars wearing some of the top names in fashion and some of the most expensive jewelry pieces. The Golden Globes has set off the much-anticipated awards season. Arriving one by one were actors from the world of television and film to celebrate the TV shows and movies that are on top of their game. There were some clearly defined trends that included the color white, navy, gowns with pockets, capes, metallics, jewel toned colors. Stylists must have placed extra orders for double sided tape for all the daring, plunging necklines. It was exciting to see the return of color on the red carpet! Black and red dresses are usually the classic and safe choice but this time, we saw different shades of yellow making a splash. There was definitely a sense of elegance but with a few crop topped designs, there was a feeling that things were a bit more laid back. So we have made our choice for the 2016 Golden Globes best dressed and here are our top ten, in no particular order of preference. Do you agree/disagree? Who had your vote for best red carpet fashion?

AMA’s 2015: REVIEW AND BEST DRESSED

The 2015 American Music Awards celebrated the best of music as voted by the fans and public last night. This award show first began back in 1973 and since has seen many historic performances throughout the years. Of course, besides the music it’s the fashion on the red carpet that has everyone talking. However, this year the red carpet seemed pretty underwhelming. It seemed as if the most dominant trend was to play it safe and boring or go to the extreme of trying too hard sexiness which translated into cheap and slutty. Then on the other extreme there were some that brought dramatic gowns with trains, again not a fit for this type of show. Not sure what happened to a lot of the stylists to the stars last night. Did they leave their understudies in charge? There were so many celebrities just not dressing ‘the part’ for this event. It’s a night to celebrate music and although taking a risk is encouraged, it just fell pretty flat in general. I think we are all over the capes, top knot hair style and honestly, sheer nude gowns needs to really take a vacation very soon.

Jennifer Lopez played host for the first time and she is usually the one every human on the planet tunes in to watch. Well, she did not disappoint! Lucky for us she did not open the show with a scripted set of yawn worthy jokes or commentary, she played her strengths by performing a high energy, very entertaining dance medley of this year’s top hits. For the remainder of the night, she continued to showcase at least ten incredible looks. Like her or not, the woman loves fashion and it certainly showed all night. Here is our small but noteworthy roundup of what we appreciated from the red carpet. What were some of your favorites last night at the AMAs.

EMMYS 2015: FIVE OF THE RED CARPET’S BEST DRESSED

With so many great shows on television, it’s no surprise that the Emmys had a lot of anticipation this year. Apparently, the temperatures in Los Angeles Sunday night were steaming and peaking at almost 100 degrees. Yet, that did not distract or affect some of the TV’s best actresses on the red carpet. Some of the biggest stars like Taraji P. Henson of the mega hit show ‘Empire’ arrived early dressed in an edgy black, chain should strap Alexander Wang dress. One after another the stars kept arriving. Then it happened… Sarah Hyland of the show ‘Modern Family’ arrived and then came the first gasp of wow! This young lady is by far a fashionista favorite and has already quite a spectacular archive of winning looks to her favor. She was styled by celebrity stylist Brad Goreski in a plum, over the shoulder Zac Posen gown. Age appropriate and flawless. Speaking of another show-stopping moment, well did you see Lady Gaga? She had everyone going gaga indeed as she elegantly posed in a black Brandon Maxwell gown. Old Hollywood Glamour suits her well. There were some fashion risk takers including Kerry Washington with a very heavy, intricate, metallic gown by Marc Jacobs. If you are runway expert than you know that this dress was just shown last week at the tail end of New York Fashion Week. Talk about hot off the runway! Latin bombshell Sofia Vergara brought her curves in a perfectly fitted St. John gown and her hot fiance Joe Manganiello. The show ‘Orange is the new Black’ brought out their lovely ladies to the carpet, but the one who stunned in a regal, red Christian Siriano was Laura Prepon. Just perfection head to toe.

So that wraps up our choices for the Emmys 2015 best dressed. Tell us which were your favorites One Style at a Time readers.

CANNES 2015: TOP 10 BEST DRESSED PART 2

As promised ladies and gentlemen, here comes the second installment of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival best dressed. The fashion on and off the red carpet this year were pretty glamorous and spectacular. There were definitely some misses but actually not too many. Cannes is certainly the right place for dramatic fashion statements and high fashion all the way. Some repeat winners on the carpet were Emma Stone, Sienna Miller and Aishwarya Rai to just name a few. If you are looking for a bit of style inspiration and want to know what were some of the hottest trends well here we go! Go for the bold jewel tones, feathers, black lace and metallics. The unfortunate sheer detailed gowns continue to make waves and the redundant bare midriff is still ‘a thing’. Overall the fashion was pretty incredible and although there were many other favorites here are One Style at a Time’s TOP TEN part DEUX! What were your favorites fashionistas? If you missed part one, check out the post here.
